H.M.C. Hurricanes Blow Away the Competition! Story by: Nimisha Dubey 6h Cheerleading is a popular sport in the United States, but with the way Ontario schools have been participating, this sport seems to be spreading quickly all over Canada. On February 26/2005 the H.M.C. Cheerleading Team competed in the Regional Cheerleading championships at Bear Creek Secondary School in Barrie, Ontario. For the girls of HMC, it was quite the opportunity. H.M.C. competed against three different schools that included: Park Avenue Public School, Cornell Village Public School, and James Robinson Public School in the junior level two division. With the help of Ms.Gauthier, the H.M.C. Cheerleaders have been practicing once, sometimes twice a week since September, NEVER once cancelling a Practice. Their hard work and efforts went into a difficult routine that included many lifts and aerial displays. This past week they got to share and practice this routine in front of Hazel students at the grade level assemblies. The practice performance had a few mistakes but overall, the girls were proud of their accomplishments and felt ready for the competition. During the competition, each team ran through their routine twice. H.M.C., performing last out of the junior division, had an outstanding performance. All throughout their routine, they had great attitude and peppy cheers and in the end, they came out with ENORMOUS smiles. Congratulations to the H.M.C. Hurricanes for placing #1 in the junior division for The Regional Cheerleading Championships! H.M.C. is very proud of all your accomplishments and keeping us happy with your big smiles everyday. We’re looking forward to your next performance. Keep it up!
GOOOOOOOO H.M.C. HURRICANES!
