The Real Deal About *STARS*-  Misunderstood and Under Appreciated

By: Maya Beidoun, staff writer

Most people believe that the life of a Popstar, R&B artist and movie star is just glitz and glamour, though it may not appear to be what an average person thinks it is. Stars, such as Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lopez, know that it is not just money and looks that makes them popular. Jennifer has a beautiful voice, while Julia has amazing acting skills and this is what makes them popular and talented.

The real deal, and the stuff that most of us don’t see, is that they both suffer major headaches on a daily basis because of the Press, specifically tabloids. These Hollywood versions of newspapers are bought by millions of curious humans everyday that are dieing to know some weird twisted rumours about certain stars that are always in these tabloids. Although they make for interesting reading, these twisted rumours often end-up embarrassing, humiliating and shocking the star, their loved ones and their fans. For instance, take the poor case of Michael Jackson. The Media accuses him of having over 50 surgeries done to his face when he insists on telling the society that he has actually only had 3 done.

So, whom will society believe in? The celebrity or the Media? Celebrities put in a lot of work and determination to entertain the people of society, so why is it that their fans hardly ever believe what they say and are more likely to believe a trashy tabloid?

Average people can't say that Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera live the perfect life, because celebrities live a very stressful and tiring life. Not only do they have to do their job but they also have to put up with rumours, critics and the media. Even if I had all the money in the world it still wouldn’t buy me happiness or a family. Basically, we can't judge stars by what we read or the way we think they are because we really don’t know them and we can't relate our life to theirs. In other words, we cannot judge them simply by the way they look or what we read about them until we are "put into their shoes"

Eminem speaks very rudely of his mother and swears at her in almost every song he has written. People often ask for the reasons why he has this hatred towards his mom? What most of us don’t know is that Eminem didn’t exactly live the perfect child hood. For one reason his mother was doing things she shouldn’t do that are against the law and another reason is that she didn’t give her children any respect, nor did she take care of them.

Individuals have a choice as to whether or not they want to do something and if people are going to judge celebrities by their appearance, then maybe they shouldn’t watch their movies or listen to their songs. Stars put a lot of effort into producing what they do and they don’t need ignorant fans or media critics criticizing them about what they do. Critics don’t know what it feels like to live the life of a celebrity, and therefore they should not go around and judge stars who may have done something that they don’t approve of. It just goes to show that even if you are a celebrity, life isn’t all the glitz and glamour that it appears to be. When you look closer, it’s clear that society really doesn't appreciate what is given to them by their favourite celebrities.
