 Grade 8 Reflection

Priyanka Sharma – 8D

The past three years of my life seemed to have flown by so quickly here at Hazel McCallion. Each year has held its own exciting memories and experiences. I came into the school as a nervous, grade six student, not knowing where to go, or what to expect. The school atmosphere was welcoming, yet I remained intimidated by the towering grade eights and wide hallways – it was a completely different place compared to my small elementary school.

After the first couple of months passed, I opened up to my classmates and realized that junior high wasn’t going to be as scary as I thought, it was actually an enjoyable year. Grade six was straightforward and we could get by without doing a large amount of work. However, as soon as grade seven began, things quickly changed! During my second year at this school, I think I really developed as a person, and more specifically a student. I think my experiences with my peers and Mr. Riddell positively affected my work habits and writing abilities. Overall, I think grades seven and eight have really prepared me for high school, and although it is going to be challenge, I think I am ready.

There is not one specific memory that comes to mind when I think of the highest, most enjoyable points of my life at Hazel, as there have been so many. Throughout my years at the school, I have had the opportunity to meet such a diverse group of people. They have always been there for me, throughout the good times, and the bad. I will definitely cherish the close friendships that I have made over this time.

As graduation night quickly approaches, I am looking forward to spending time with my close friends and reflecting on the past years. Even though I am still going to keep in touch with many people, I think it’s going to be sad to leave everyone behind and move on without them. I can’t wait to celebrate our accomplishments, see everyone dressed up and dancing the night away! I hope that Grad night becomes one of the most memorable evenings of my Hazel years.

Although I am both excited and nervous to begin high school and enter a new chapter of my life, I am truly going to miss the wonderful group of people that I’ve gotten know over the years, and I wish them the best of luck in their futures.
